The Roman Army was employed by the Romans, the Roman Republic and later the Roman Empire, as part of the Roman military. Each Roman soldier, also known as a legionary, carried four personal weapons: two javelins, a sword, and a dagger. Legionaries had to carry their own weapons, food and camping equipment with them and all trained together and taught to fight together as a single unit.
