Native American Girl

$39.95

Long before the white man set foot on American soil, the American Indians, or rather the Native Americans, had been inhabiting North America. When the Europeans stepped onto the land, there were approximately 10 million Native Americans populating America north of present-day Mexico and they had been living in America for quite some time. It is believed that the first Native Americans arrived during the last ice-age, approximately 20,000-30,000 years ago through a land-bridge across the Bering Sound, from northeastern Siberia into Alaska. The oldest documented Indian cultures in North America are Sandia (15000 BC), Clovis (12000 BC) and Fulsom (8000 BC).

Although it is believed that the Indians originated in Asia, few if any of them came from India. The name "Indian" was first applied to these indigenous peoples by Christopher Columbus, who believed mistakenly that the mainland and islands of America were part of the Indies, in Asia.

This is a great costume for the student who wants to greet those Europeans who started to arrive in the 16th and 17th century. The Natives regarded their white-complexioned visitors as something of a marvel, not only for their outlandish dress and beards and winged ships but even more for their wonderful technology - steel knives and swords, fire-belching arquebus and cannon, mirrors, hawk-bells and earrings, copper and brass kettles and so on.

Includes: Faux suede beaded dress with fringe, headband with feather and beaded choker.

We understand the difficulty in obtaining the precise measurements of your children (we all have kids of our own). As a good rule of thumb, the age of your child is normally the size that your child wears. However, only you know your child, so please take note as to whether your child is large, small or average for her age, and choose her size accordingly.

  1. With her arms at her sides, measure around the fullest part of your child's chest.
  2. Measure your child's waist around her natural waistline, keeping the tape comfortably loose.
  3. Measure your hips around the fullest part of your child's hips (approximately 8” below the waistline).

Please be sure to order belts two inches longer than your child's pant waist size.

*Note: Our Products come from a variety of sources and manufacturer’s sizing standards may vary. A comments box is provided when you place your order and we definitely welcome any additional sizing information and measurements to help us get it right the first time!
