In 1412, a young girl called Jeanne was born in Domrémy, France. The times were hard: The Hundred Year War with England had been going on since 1337 and English knights and soldiers roamed the country. Jeanne quickly developed into a very religious young woman. At the age of 13, she had her first vision... and found a sword. When coming home with it, she found the English leveling her hometown.

Years after that, in 1428, she knew her mission was to be ridding France of the English and so set out to meet Charles, the Dauphin. In his desperate military situation, he welcomed all help and gave the maiden a chance to prove her divine mission. After the successful liberation of Orléans and Reims, the Dauphin was crowned traditionally in the cathedral of Reims - and didn't need her anymore, since his wishes were satisfied.

Jeanne d'Arc got caught his trap and was imprisoned by the Burgundians. In a trial against her under the English law, she couldn't be forced to tell about her divine visions she had continuously seen since childhood. Being condemned of witchcraft and being considered as a relapsed heretic, she was sentenced to death. Jeanne d'Arc was burnt alive in the marketplace of Rouen on May 30th, 1431, at only 19 years of age.

This Joan of Arc costume is complete with knee length red tunic with gold lion appliqué, gold belt, pants, sleeves, cowl and lined cape.

We understand the difficulty in obtaining the precise measurements of your children (we all have kids of our own). As a good rule of thumb, the age of your child is normally the size that your child wears. However, only you know your child, so please take note as to whether your child is large, small or average for her age, and choose her size accordingly.

  1. With her arms at her sides, measure around the fullest part of your child's chest.
  2. Measure your child's waist around her natural waistline, keeping the tape comfortably loose.

Please be sure to order belts two inches longer than your child's pant waist size.

*Note: Our Products come from a variety of sources and manufacturer’s sizing standards may vary. A comments box is provided when you place your order and we definitely welcome any additional sizing information and measurements to help us get it right the first time!
